Studiował w warszawskiej Klasie Rysunkowej u Wojciecha Gersona i Aleksandra Kamińskiego oraz, dzięki stypendium uzyskanym od adwokata Stanisława Rotwanda przy poparciu wybitnego malarza Leopolda Horowitza, w Szkole Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie u Jana Matejki i Leopolda Loefflera.
